The health and safety of our employees and everyone else affected by our activities is fundamental to the success of our business. It is the policy of the company to comply with the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005, the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007 and to ensure as reasonably practicable the Safety, Health and Welfare of all employees.
Our policy is to create an environment in which everyone can work safely. Emerald whilst actively promoting a strong Health Safety and Welfare policy throughout the company, we provide safe and healthy working conditions for all employees and will take positive action to ensure that others who may be affected by our activities are also protected e.g. contractors, clients and the public.

Emerald operates a health and management system in accordance with the requirements of OHSAS 18001. T
The Companies Health and Safety Policy statement is reviewed annually and updated to any changing circumstances and to ensure their operational effectiveness. The statement is distributed to all Senior Management Team, Contract Managers and Supervisors and is available at locations where Emerald Facility Services carries out business.

1. Induction Training
All new employees are required to undergo safety training on joining the company and thereafter.
Manual Handling for all employees
General Safety training and Safety Statement understanding.
Safe Pass – for all employees working on site or visiting construction sites
Technical training – appropriate with each employees job requirements
2. Health & Safety Training Plan
Emerald FS puts great emphasis on the competence of its personnel for effective control of the quality of its contracts. We consistently monitor the competence and training needs of our personnel and have established and maintains procedures to ensure: -
The staff and operatives employed in the execution and supervision of construction works are adequately competent for the duties they perform;
Training needs are identified and records are kept of training received, and the standard achieved in their training schemes/courses of each employee;
All the staff including new starters, who are likely to affect quality, are either issued with a (controlled) copy or have access to the Quality Manual & Procedures Manual so that the Quality requirements are understood from the start of the employment.
The personnel records including qualifications and previous training received (if any), are kept on files by the Human Resources Manager. Copies of Certificates relating to education, training, experience with previous employers (and other references when necessary), will be obtained for verification and kept on database.
As part of a continuing education programme, the Company may use external courses and/or in-house training courses specific to site or office work, including training in Quality Management Systems, Health & Safety, Technical, Commercial and Environmental Aspects. These records are stored in a database maintained by the Human Resources Administrator.
3. Health & Safety Training Plan
The health and safety training plan is coordinated by the companies HSEQ Manager and the HR Director and the company Safety Officer.
The health and safety plan is approved annually and reviewed by the senior management team for its effectiveness, who also ensure the provision of necessary resources for implementation.
4. Staff Training
A staff Health and Safety Training protocol has been produced to define the responsibilities in relation to the planning and implementation of the training policy.
5. Training Providers
To ensure that all health and safety training is provided by competent persons. On and off site training will be arranged by the Health and Safety Officer.
6. Health and Safety Courses
Our health and safety training is designed to meet clear objectives set out by our Health and Safety Officer.
The Health and Safety Officer will monitor all safety training its measuring for its effectiveness.
The HR Director will ensure that ongoing training requirements for the company are met.
7. Chemical Controls
All chemicals used by Emerald Facility Services are environmentally approved products and suppliers of these products are assessed annually. The company keeps Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDSs) on file of all chemicals purchased. The company complies with “REACH” Regulations 2007 as a “Downstream User” and displays MSDSs at sites in line with ISO practices and Health and Safety legislations.
